my mom has a problem with my curtains...

We're back.

We went to JcPenny's. We bought 11 curtains @ $7.99 per. What a bargain.

I have 3 windows side by side touching (almost like a bay but not) on the front of the house and on the back of the house. So that makes 6 windows. On the north side of the house I have 3 more windows...all of varying widths and big---so shades would not have worked.

Since this is my childhood home, my mother and father had just put in pella windows before my dad passed away. I had them stained a nice medium--somewhat cherry stain to match my dining room table. The wood is soooo pretty. I didn't want to drill holes and try to make the cheap shades work.

So instead I hung sheets I had over the windows that were either facing the street or a neighbor and thought...maybe next birthday....but then my birthday would come and so would outstanding bills...oh well, someday I thought.

Well, since my heart attack and my mom has been staying here a good month...I guess it wore on her. ha ha. And all her magazines are home and gardens...and she watches the home/property channel...she's always wanted to be an interior decorator and going to her 4 girls homes gives her the outlet apparently.

Now to find the rods-they didn't have any big enough. I would like black ones to match the cast iron stove. Don't know what we'll be able to find.

The curtains are the tab top kind and they are natural muslin? colored that will hang to the floor. My walls are adobe tan? I think the color is. I have a white barn painting with dark blue trim.

I think it will nice when it's all put together.

On a similar note, if your kid wants a "spiderman" bed (or whatever movie is big this year), instead of buying the $35 comforter and $8 sheets, buy 2 of the sheet set, and use the 2 top sheets to make a duvet cover (that's the name for the comforter cover that's basically a large pillocase for a comforter), add a few velcro tabs, and the kid can have his room for 1/3rd as much. The boys have had starwars, diego and dragons as thier decor, and it's cheap enough they can change it every year or so (for some reasons they wear out fitted sheets like mad, but never top sheets).
