My MUST have breeds list

1. Jersey Giants (the black variety in particular; very appealing due to their large size deterring predators)
2. Brahmas (light variety looks particularly appealing)
3. RIRs (have one pullet though I'd like more of them)
4. MORE Barred Plymouth Rocks (have 5 of them currently all young)
5. MORE White Plymouth Rocks (have one right now who's my most reliable layer)
6. LF Cochins and MORE bantams too
7. MORE Australorps
8. MORE hybrid layers (would like try breeding a BO roo with a BPR hen to get sex-link chicks)
9. Silver-laced Wyandottes (such a BEAUTIFUL breed; have one Partridge Wyandotte bantam hen)
10. MORE Buff Orpingtons (have two currently; rooster and a hen)
11. Sumatras (very beautiful ornamental breed)
12. New Hampshires
13. Silver-gray Dorkings (very ancient hardy breed that goes back before the birth of Christ during the Roman Empire; good broodies)
14. MORE Old English Games (ancient breed that traces its roots directly back to the Red Jungle Fowl; good genetics which were used in developing many of the modern breeds)
15. Leghorns (got one pullet who hasn't started laying yet)
16. Saipan Jungle Fowl (if possible)
17. Modern Games
18. Aseel
19. Shamo
20. Malay

My " must have" list has shrunk a lot over the years as I've become more utilitarian in my old age. The only "must haves" on my list now are some black sex links for eggs, black australorps for excellent laying lap pets, & some Easter eggers, because they are my granddaughter's favorite chickens. She loves the colored eggs.

I have almost all of those! My Black sex link is so friendly. I have some EE's too.
I like them all. But I do like my Brown sex link and Silkie too....

Update: I've now got three young Lt. Brahmas, one more BPR hen, one more WLH, one EE, one purebred Ameraucana, one BSL and one more BO hen. Total makes 44 now of what I have. Still really want some BJGs, Shamos, Malays, Asils, Dark Cornishes and others too.
