My snowie eggs arrived on Wednesday looking to be in good shape, none broken or cracked. I received 60 eggs for my order of 50. I had done some testing and I found I could fit 51 in my nr360 with the turner going. I can put 2 per slot, and then one in each of the small triangles space slots. Then one more in the center, and I could rotate the eggs into the non turning positions a few times per day. That left 9 eggs out of luck.

I was supposed to have someone buying eggs from me tonight, so I asked my husband if I should just give the buyer my extra snowies for free, and he said I should just get a new incubator. He thinks I should get an upgrade, and I was looking at the brinsea ovation 56. I’m still back and forth, but decided to get another nr360 because I could pick it up that day at TSC. I will probably exchange it after the hatch for the pricier one since it has to be a special order. So now I have 2 incubators going, and my husband gave me an old UPS so no more power issues! I found another tiny egg and added it, so there’s 61 total. I can’t wait to see how they turn out, I set 24 yesterday in the new incubator, and the rest the previous day in the original.

Some of the eggs are blue inside, I’m not sure if that means the hen was het for celadon or not, perhaps when I candle in a few days I’ll mark the blue ones to trace how they produce. Tbh that’s a lot of tracking over a long time for a gene that has a good chance of not being passed on to the chick inside. I’ll see how lazy I feel haha. My ultimate goal is snowie celadons so I’ll be crossing these with my existing celadon flock.

When I worked in retail we sent all open returns back to the home office, they refurbed them and sold them at a discount and donated a bunch of other stuff to goodwill and charity if it wasn’t sellable.
Oh great! I didn't know this happened. Thank you.

I candled incubator #1 today. This is my original one. Out of 37 eggs, I threw out 7. There were 3 infertile, the rest early quitters. There were 2 or 3 that I suspect were bad, but are very dark so I left them. Most of the bum eggs were either very dark or the blue inside eggs, so perhaps there are a couple hens who lay weaker eggs. Out of 60 eggs only about 18 were blue inside, and to have at least 5 be bad seems higher than random chance. But there are 24 eggs in incubator #2 that I will candle tomorrow, so I’ll see if the blue correlates there as well.
