So, any guesses on what this little lady is? Her feathers look like a black rock to me, but her comb does not. From what I've read, the true black rock strains are from Scotland.


 
Black Rock? As in Plymouth Rock? Those are solid black.


She's a Black Sex-Link. Hybrid/mutt designed for egg laying.

Black Sex-link designed for egg laying? Sounds good to me! She's been cranking out almost an egg a day and is a very gentle gal. The black rock I was referring to is actually the offspring of a RIR rooster and barred Plymouth Rock hen.
 
Ah. Well, here "Black Rock" would refer to a Black Plymouth Rock, at least, it would to me.

That's what I thought/think as well! When I did a search on black rocks I found some info. from the UK and Scotland and they look a lot like my hen minus the comb.
