I read this whole thread, cracking up! I must admit to being a chicken a holic. I keep trying to figure out ways I can get more chickens without everyone around me freaking out. But Ive got it figured out...As soon as one of these girls go broody, I'm getting eggs! Then if any of the chicks are cockerals, I will have to replace them, and everyone knows that 1 cockerel is = to 3 pullets! I fight myself from getting an incubator, do you have any idea what I would do with an incubator?!
You know your a chicken a holic when....you are out to dinner and are scraping everyones left overs in a doggy bag for your chickens!

Over the past month, we went to 5 county fairs just to see the chicken exhibits. Coming into the livestock exhibits, you know where the chickens are by following the happy sound of roosters crowing! I learned about a new breed I want...Appenzeller Spitzhauben. We parked near a city park to walk to one of the fairs, and I found this painted rock....I'm sure it's a chicken sitting on a heart.. .

Aww! Thats cute. I wonder who painted it? Aren't Appenzeller Spitzhaubens interesting? I would love some!

I heard that painting rocks and leaving them for people to find has become a trend. My daughter found one in OR. I am guessing mine was done by a little kid who splashed the white onto it by mistake.
I am thinking it could make a good logo for my future egg business...something like this:


Cackle hatchery has Apenzeller Spitzhaubens....I am tempted to take a drive up there, 3 hrs away...

Really? Thats an interesting trend. That is a great idea for a logo! I wonder if the same kid who painted the rock sees your logo and is like, "Hmmm, that looks like my rock that I painted!"

Down here, when someone says "Bless yore heart!" with extra syrupy sweetness in the Southern drawl, it usually means " You poor little idiot!" Or maybe "You dumb yankee!"

It IS a cute idea for a logo.
