They are beautiful and part of the world all living things share.

I have a family near me and know they've gotten a few of my chickens over the years. I'm never happy when it happens and have secured my barn even more, but they have to eat too.

I would think most people here would agree that foxes have to eat, and are entitled to live freely and be beautiful wild animals. BUT to have them living under your barn, or your neighbor's barn, can be an issue, and keeping your chickens where predators (like foxes) cannot get to them, is a big part of the responsibility of caring for domestic animals. If we choose to raise pets, we have to keep them from that which is harmful to them.

My concern was about his baby goats. they are on the small side, I don't know if foxes would kill a baby goat? I sure wouldn't want a family of foxes living under my barn!!!
They belong out in the woods so they can run and be free and not eat my chickens.

Beautiful creatures. I love the way a healthy red fox looks, as long as it isn't carrying one of my hens off.

It is very tempting to let them stay, so you could admire them, but you must take into account the risk you are inviting as well. Fox are notorious for being rabies carriers, do you really want a whole family right under your barn? It's a bit too close to home for me, but then again I would be very tempted to let them stay.

Having them so close can put your smaller animals at risk of being invited to dinner with the Fox family. Your larger animals are at risk of disease. I personally wouldn't want the hounds tearing through my goat pasture(at the goat's risk) trying to nab themselves a fox.

LOL. I know a lady who had to deal with this. The lady's neighbor allowed a family of gray fox to live under her house!! She even fed them cat food! I laughed because I thought "Well she use to be the crazy old cat lady until the fox moved in, and she just hasn't realized the difference!" Bye-bye kitties, and hello Mr. Fox and family.

I have even been tempted to put quail out(more natural prey) in hopes of seeing them in my horse pasture more often. I told myself no, because the fox will not draw the line between the quail and the chickens.

so...... if these foxes live 1/4 mile down the road, what are the chances that they would find their way here?? they are right by the creek there, I sure don't want to lose any of my chickens!!!! I wonder if my neighbor has any guineas left? He had 4 then is down to 2 now, he thinks that they must have flown off. or something.. I bet they were dinner!!

when the animals die for what ever reason you will at least have a place to throw teh dead ones without them rotting.. thats how it is out here but we have like 10 wild cats.. they help keep the mice and rats away and they eat the dead animals.. my animals start to dissapear the cats are going to dissapear..

Don't feel bad, I think I missed it to.

I have a neighbor just 3 houses down from me and she feeds everything. I don't have pics of it but there have been coyote eating with the deer in her yard.

I don't want them no where near me or my kids. I heard from another neighbor that there is a fox in the area, when I see, I will shoot it.

I understand that wild animals feed on other animals, but when the animals are mine, I will kill the wild. Look up the word wild and tell me if you want that in your backyard.
