The neighbor just gave my nephew two chickens and of course he took them and brought them to me! I have silkies and I’m keeping them separated. What breed are they? Should I worry about disease or mixing them? I have not seen any mites or signs or illness. They are sweet. Does anyone have advice for me?

The brown one is a welsummer and the black one could be an australorp or a jersey giant. Could you take a picture of the bottom of her feet?

As for quarantine, I usually quarantine all new chickens for a month. You might want to check the feathers near the vent to make sure they don't have mites.

Black Giant and a Welsummer. Keep them quarantined away from your other chickens for at least 30 days, 45 is even better. Showing no signs of illness does not mean they can not infect your other birds. They may have gotten over a sickness but will still be a carrier.
