As far as I can remember, the eye problems lessen with age. I do believe that their bodies and skull catch up and then there is less problems. They will be less prominent then. Hang in there, he is worth it. Pugs are so sweet and wonderful pets.
I know what you mean, I feel like I am leaving one of my kids too. I just changed the box and there were no pasty butts. Just a couple of dirty ones. I think that the butt bath is the best solution and it seems to hurt less than picking. I make the water warm and they hardly move, almost like it calms them. Hopefully I wont have any more problems with that now that they are settled in and all eating well.

The vet said his eyes won't look so odd(it looks like he is lazy eyed in both eyes) as he gets older. I think it's just adorable. He is more than I thought he would be. I hope his eyes do get better. Poor little guy. I couldn't imagine how it feels to have an eyeball bulging outta my head!
I didn't find any pasty butts either. Yea!!!!!!!!
