Just got my Buff Orps today! I gave them some electrolyte water and food and they seem to be doing well. The thermometer says around 100 F below the lamp, so might need to adjust. Please enjoy my post and adventures with them!

Awwwwwwww!!!! So cute!!! I am so chick addicted I would buy all the chicks in the store if I could! We have 2 buff Orpington hens and they are so fluffy and awesome and they are the best! Hope you have fun with your chicks!!!!:woot:yesss:

I also agree to move the lamp to one side. They will know to be under the lamp if they get cold and can get out from it if they are too hot. Drop the temp 5 degrees each week.

My chicks were in my house so they had no lamp by 4 weeks cause the house is warm. I only gave them the lamp back when they were bigger when they spent their first few nights outside because at night it dropped to 55F-48F - no draft, but that's colder then my house and I did not spend all the time and money just to have them get sick or die.

Very cute babies though!

View attachment 1267378 We adopted 4 chicks last Saturday, one of them being our Buff Orp (“Carrie”). She’s s real little love. So friendly already and fearless! My favorite part is her fluffy thighs! So cute! Enjoy your babies!
Awe, she’s very cute. I can already tell they’re quite calm birds from the first day! Thank you for the best wishes!

Here's a picture of my 3 year old buff Orpington Annabelle. She is very sweet and full of personality, as well as a great laying hen. I love buff Orpingtons and I have only had one:) Good luck with your little cuties!

When they grow up and if they are hens, then be prepared, they may go broody! One of our orpingtons went broody in the fall two years ago and in the spring last year. We got her some eggs to sit on and two hatched! She made an excellent mother! Waiting to see if will go broody again this year!!! Enjoy your babies and who knows, maybe someday they will raise their own chicks!!!! (Or be head of the roost like my other orpington!!) Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
