See... now that was what I was expecting from the whole group. Thanks Chris! As long as it's a hen, I can work with it.
I actually have a couple of blues in their "ugly" teenage stage in the brooder that were pale blue to start, and are feathering in REALLY dark... I'll have to wait 3 more months to see them fully feathered, but I'm keeping them.
Sure are nice! I say give them 2 weeks and "maybe" the difference will be more apparent Tori. I've hatched lots of blues & blacks.....and at first unless there is a big distinction it is confusing.I thought many dark blues might be black but weren't after a few weeks.
But I've also found that black really can sometimes be clearly seen from the get go. I have a lot of pics if you want to email me for some of them at different ages early on.
Nonononono! Lalalalala! I don't want to hear that!!
I know... the one chick in the middle of the third photo came from my blue pen... that's what I'm talking about. I guess I can wait to see what happens. Some of my light/med blues are feathering out way darker than their down, so hopefully the same will be with the blacks.
Weebles - my near black super dark blue (I still say he is black)- that I got from you started out darker than that. I hope these guys turn out the right color for you - they are very very cute and I will need some hatching eggs from them eventually...

Don't think for a moment that I didn't see that!!! LOL!
Do I need to put you on the calendar for next March? Mine usually don't start laying for 8-9 months...

I would love to see some photos... of course!! Even if it is just because they're cute!!
I should take a photo of one of my "greys" that is feathering out dark right now.. it's got the cutest little black mohawk going on there!
I'm still talking to the quad about one of them possibly turning itself into a female since Cindy Lou passed. There may be a girl in there somewhere...
These "kids" were at my house to buy some chicks today (17 - 18 year old boys - go figure) and they saw the silkies running around the yard and werelike "OMG you have silkies I want them are you selling those??????" Then he saw my white SG and knew exactly what it was. Kind of relieved my nervousness selling week old chicks to him.
I explained they were very special silkies all the way from Alaska and no he couldn't buy them.
