My pens are all dirt flooring with wood chips or shavings on top. When we built it my husband allowed enough room for my wheelbarrol to fit between the pens and the storage building. He also built it where the doors from each pen open out and act as a gate from one pen to the other - that way I can open one pen and herd all the chickens to the other one while I clean that one. I love it...I am i the process of deciding on what color to paint my storage buildling and would love to add a "fake" window with shutters on the front side - but that will come in due time.
