No - Tibetan is a colour of Coturnix. They're also called British Range - it's all just describing a dark chocolate brown colour with dark almost black feather edging. They usually have one pink toe in the middle. My Tibetan has a more square head shape than the other Coturnix do, but mine is a freak who had an infected head that he just recovered from, so that may be why. He's a snuggler, though.

They're crappy camera pics, but the second one down shows the size of my then-immature Coturnix next to an adult button quail.

Now that I've got a working real camera, I'll see about getting much better pictures.

Monarc, if you're watching - the hen in that pic is my "mutt", cross between Tux, English, and Bobwhite.

I would have never guessed that was her mix. Those are supposedly known as bob-birds. I've thought of breeding them (coturnix X Bobwhite) but they say they're ideal for hunting because they're skiddish, so i'd rather not ha ha!!! So how did you know she was a bob-bird? Did the breeder tell you or did you produce her yourself? If it was off of egg color, coturnix can lay purewhite eggs too just like bobwhites can.

I don't know anyone else who breeds bob-birds, a group im on actually doesnt believe that the cross can happen, but im sure it can!

Yep. Most of my tibes are more compact in size than my other coturnix types. They almost look like a completely different species of bird. My favorite tibes (aka british range) are the REALLY dark ones gosh are they pretty!!! I have a few of those and I can't wait to start breeding for more! Their colors are so dark, they almost have a blue hue to their feathers....my sneaky future attempt is to see if theres anyway to express that blue looking color.......I am a blue addict after all!
