My New Button Quail Pair!!! ** ( PIC HEAVY!!! ) **

You know, the more I think about it, the more I think that your hen is a golden pearl? I have 2 hens that I'm sure are wilds, and they have gold 'lines' on their backs. The markings are kind of spikey, I don't know how to describe it.
ETA: This is a pic of a golden pearl hen (left) and a wild hen (right). My hens look like the one on the right.

Oh, and the correct name for them is chinese painted quail, not blue breasted or button. There is a quail named a button quail that looks nothing like these, and there is also a blue quail that is about the same size, and looks very similar. To avoid confusion, I use the chinese painted terminology in my auction listings

Not trying to call anyone out but their true name is Chinese Blue Breasted Quail.
They were earlier confused with the painted bush quail and that's how painted got confused into it.
Button quail got confused into their name bacause of soldiers keeping them as pets in the war and nicknaming them after their coat buttons.
Chinese blue breasted quail are very simular to the African blue breasted quail
The true bird that is scientifically named buttonquail isn't a quail at all but a type of very small crane.

Thanks.
The hen does look like a golden pearl.

So what would I get if I hatched out some of her eggs? Mixes or what? ( Not like she is laying yet, but ... )

Most all buttons are mixed, it's very difficult to get button colors to breed true. Not impossible, but very difficult.

Hi Mrs. Fluffy Puffy,
I don't mean to hijack your thread but I just got a pair of buttons too and I'm also waiting for my hen to lay. grrrrrrrrrrrr

I had them in the kitchen for a bit but the dogs were way too hyper with the wagging tails, so I moved them to the living room where it's nice and quiet. When I first got them home the hen laid the egg that was probably in her ready to lay, but nothing after that. grrrrr. Don't they know we want eggies?????

I'm not sure about that mating thing - I imagine it has to be short n' sweet like the chickens.
