My New Chicks

It's been a week, and they've grown so much. Bonnie definitely has a bold personality, she's always the first one to investigate and takes on a big sister role to the other chicks. I've heard her make the food noise that roosters make to hens or mothers to babies.

Little One looks especially tiny next to Bonnie. Waiting to give an official name until I know whether she's a pullet or not

Tentative name for the EE is Matilda/Tilly for short, not sure yet. I named a Welsummer pullet Ellie once and soon realized it didn't really fit her and renamed her Nutmeg, so we shall see as she gets older what sounds right for her

Little One is 3 weeks old and growing lots of new feathers. She's white like her mom, and I have noticed two patches of black skin on her wings. Her mom has darker skin, so I assume from her as well (I believe Little Girl's dad was a Silkie).

Bonnie is one of those special babies that just seem to form bonds/interact with people much easier

She has learned to fly to my lap for cuddles and has gone on my shoulders and head a few times

The EE doesn't mind her face and chest being pet, but she hates being picked up in any way. She also seems to be developing a crest? If so, I'm very excited about it! I've never had a chicken with one before. And if it means she's mixed with Legbar, then she may turn out to be a blue egg layer, which I've also never had

Next update will probably be when they're all feathered out and ready to move outside. They'll be moving in with Little One's big sisters, Creme Brulee and Snowball (same father, different moms)

The chicks are growing up nicely...love the tiny crest on one!

Little One is 5 weeks old, the other two somewhere around 6-7 weeks.
Also, Lois the EE has the cutest crest!

They'll be going outside more permanently starting next week.
In the meantime, I've been taking them outside during the day for short adventures

They got a little cold (it was a breezy 60s day), so they hopped up on my lap for some snuggles. Lois was there the whole time, because she hates the outdoors lol

Super adorbs!!! ❤️❤️

Let the babies out for a while outside the last few days. Creme Brulee was not impressed.

I set them up something inside to stay in while they're getting used to each other. The hens are refusing to go inside with the babies in there. Creme Brulee came inside for a little while to yell at them or me I guess for bringing them there lol

Babies are doing fine in their new pen. It's the big girls that are having a hard time
