My new coop...

sweet. thanks for the insight.
ive been debating the rose bush looking for reason to get rid of it and now i do.
as for the straw...
so far i'm not liking it. I think I'm just going to go bare dirt until summer when we mow lawn once a week and can just drop the clippings in there.
the grape vine actually does better under the shade cloth in the summer. if in direct sun it gets nuked

Jason, you could probably buy a LONG extention cord from Home Depot (or maybe even the Wal Mart down around the corner from you) and run it from the back of your house out to the coop. I have a couple of timers in my coop and my coop stays much cooler in the summer if it comes on at about 1 or 2 AM and runs until about 9 or 10 AM... that coop could get very warm in the summer... I'm lucky, mine is in the shade.

Also, I have another timer in there for the winter... it turns a light on at six AM and it goes off at 8PM so they get 14 hours of light. I got 13 eggs today. I'm going to have to start culling the ones who aren't paying the rent.
