My new duckies

I picked up my 2 ducklings at Holderread today. They set aside a Khaki Campbell and a Magpie for me. The campbell needed help hatching, so they didn't even charge me for it. It's funny, I have passed by their house many times, and always thought to myself "what's with all the geese?". Now I know. Anyone ordering from them should feel confident knowing that their adult breeding stock is very happy. They don't let anyone over by them for bio-security reasons, but I could see runners begging at the fence and groups of ducks/geese in large separate spaces. It's a lovely setup, and they are very nice people. They are swamped right now and it's hard to get ahold of them, but they are obviously in it for the love of the birds.

I put the 2 new babies in with Marvin and he immediately started talking to them and wagging his tail. It was wonderful. I'll take pictures of the new ones tonight.

Exactly - plus, you need to order well in advance. I had this spring's order in with them back in August of last year. They're wonderful to work with though, and I'm SO impressed with my ducklings from them. Two of the Hookbills in particular have the most curved bills I've ever seen!

Oh, and to stay on topic - I LOVE little Marvin! My Khakis were adults already when I got them - if I find a Khaki drake at a swap one of these days, maybe I'll hatch some little Khakis! I have some Dark Campbells due in two weeks.
