My new fishies :D

@ Pinkfoxfarm....

In the USA Shipping is the most expensive part, but the fees are lower than Aus... It's about $8.00 for fees per fish, in very good weather the fish can be shipped Priority at about $25 for 2 fish I think.. and a $5.00 box fee. The shipping is then about $5.00 more per fish. In cold weather and warm and hot weather and if you live further away from one of the 5 transhippers, Miami, Atlanta, New York, Denver, and one of those places in California

... it will have to be by Express, which starts at $30 and works it's way up. I think when I did my shipments in groups of 4 fish, the shipping fee was $55, then the importation/transhipper fees were $32 for the 4 fish, then the cost of the fish averaged at $25 per fish so $100. Too much money, LOL!
But you can bring that number way down if you pick your time of year well, and just get 1 or 2 fishes

@ the purple discussion...

There is no true purple yet developed. The Salamanders do look purple

but it is because of a mixing of colors, the under layer of scales will be blue and the outer layer will be red, something like that, so the appearance is purple.

The other color that can appear purple is Copper. In copper Bettas there is an extra layer of scales that are crystaline in nature. Thats what makes them shine. In a Betta who has a parent of Copper color and and one of Metallic Steel Blue (a steel blue with a copper parent thus giving them a metallic crystaline layer) so 3/4 copper and 1/4 steel blue, they can appear very purple from the reflection of light throught the crystaline layer off the lower blue layer. It's really pretty

I have one of that color, a female, think I have her picture up on my BYC page.. but she is a mean little gal and loves to eat boys
