My new hen... help!

The colors recognized by the American Poultry Association (APA) and the American Bantam Association (ABA) are white, partridge, gray, splash, black, blue, and buff. Yours looks closest to calico to me. That's a project color, not a recognized color.

Of course, I could be wrong--I'm not a Silkie expert by any means.

I think its a really light blue or splash partridge Silkie. are you sure its a female? Looks a little suspicious to me... Here is a splash hen in the lower left. I've seen a few lighter than this as well, but my suspicion is because she has more red in the wing like the males typically do. I've also seen Red Pyle Silkies as well, but yours has the blue in the tail so its not a Pyle.

Well, she doesn't seem like a he to me, but I could be totally wrong. I haven't raised silkies before. She better be a she or I am going to be very upset since I payed for a hen. =/ She is one of three. Thanks for the input on color, I love whatever it is but was just wondering if there was a curtain name for it. =)

You should take him back then. It is a boy.

Colouration is mixed. Happy surprise. :)

well then you paid extra for a bou. Because that is little cockerel

Agree this looks like a rooster. The comb is starting to develope and I've noticed with mine the males hair tend to grow straight back instead of growing round like the females.
