my friend helped me bring home a new hen recently.
This hen is a Black Astralorp, she has the shiniest black feathers, with high-lights of blue, green, and gold. She is slowly adjusting to life with freedom to roam outside the coop. Ben-Roo is proud and protective for this new girl, each day he personally chooses bites of my warm food to feed his newest wife.
Of my two hens already roosting here, I was surprised to see the smaller- a bantam Serama, establishing herself as a higher ranking hen than the larger (new) hen. My youngest hen is a pullet we raised here, she accepted this new member without a problem.
everyone, especially the roo have blended pretty smoothly, needing just one
smack reminder from roo just who is the boss here.
