This is my hutch that I currently use for brooding. It is 12'L X 4'D X 4'H. The last four feet is one compartment and is being used as a brooder at the moment. The other 8 feet is divided in the middle. One side is open all the way to the top and the other side has a shelf at 2' height all the way down. Any ideas as to what I can use this for? I was thinking a sick pen or maybe put a few bantams in. Any ideas would be welcome.

Don't think it is a good idea to have sick birds sharing close space next to your babies as you would be risking the babies getting sick.

Definitely not a sick pen. As far as the bantams, what reason would you be putting them in there for? Do you have pics of your chicken house and run that you can post?

I don't have the coop and run built as of yet. I plan to put the coop alongside the 8 x 10 pen in the corner.

I want to extend the run out from the pen 15 ft in width and out to 25 ft.

This will give me 455 square feet outside of the 8 x 8 coop that I intend to build. I plan to house about 2 dozen chickens in there. Give me your thoughts on this. I plan to put the coop on piers but Im debating on placing it on a slab. Which is better?
