The Missus and me (SE Texas) really enjoy the spring and fall hummingbird migration, and feed our year long local population.
Has anyone noticed an early return to the south?
This morning, we had our two locals, buzzing impatiently while I put out fresh nectar.
At 3 pm, we had at least 6 birds floating around the feeders, obviously from out of town.
I'll try to get pics.
Is this a normal migration cycle, or early?
If early, does it indicate an early winter?

Our hummers just left a few days ago from up here, but I hear they are fast fliers when they head south.

We are a little surprised they left so soon. It's been horribly hot here though, so maybe they figured, what's the point of being in Wisconsin if the heat here is the same as Texas. :)

I still have hummingbirds over here in west TX. I'm not sure what there migration cycle is.....seems like the come until the first frost.
SE Texas here.
Even more hummers today, definitely not our locals. It seems pretty early...
I wonder if we're in for an early winter?

In the southeast, and I've noticed an uptick in hummingbird activity in our yard. We had so few this year, which is really weird for us. I only saw maybe 2 back in March (kind of early), then basically none for months. Now I've noticed them coming back over the last week or so.

It's been a slow year.
Two years ago, they almost outnumbered the skeeters!
