my new leghorn hen

my new leghorn hen i think she is about 5 months im not sure i put her in the coop .i got 2 more chickens with her i have a red and a brhma hen . put them in coop the 2 fit in fine they did the peckin order all get along great now .my others are 2 reds , 1 buff,1leghorn hen 1 leghorn rooster, 1 barnevelder 1 araucana rooster ,those are my babies i started with as chics they are all about.5 months my roosters just started crowing. but the new leghorn is terrifired and not fitting in she will eat and drink when they go outside .but just stays in hiding. she looks very drained . looks she looks whooped im trying to find out is she sick what can i do.​

Now, regarding your new hen... hopefully she is not sick and is just stressed. It's usually a very good idea to quarantine new birds for at least a couple weeks to make sure they aren't sick with something that might spread to the rest of your birds. Also, when integrating new birds, it's a really good idea to fence off part of the run just for them and maybe let them sleep in the coop in a wire dog crate. That way everybody can get used to seeing them without attacking them. I think your birds are doing ok because they are fairly young. WIth older birds you might have had a really nasty fight on your hands with just popping the new ones in like that.

You need to watch them carefully and see how things are going for the leghorn. Is she getting chased away from food and water or picked on to much? If so you might section off part of their area for her and maybe one of two other's who get along with her. Let everybody get used to the new birds for a while and then start putting the old flock in with the new birds, put the gentlest ones in first. They'll still work out their pecking order but it won't be as violent as when they are suddenly faced with an unfamiliar bird.

If you watch and see that she is not being attacked in any extreme way, i.e. one that would cause bleeding injury, then she probably just needs time to adjust.

ty for anwering me i have some wonderful hens and roosters .i sit outside with them all the time not afraid of other animals or people .i iust really worried about her shes very skidish and looks just terrified .and tired.shes eating and drinking but she waits for them to go out .i will try that .and i will let you know how she is ty.

i have blocked her off i put chicken wire wall up so they see her the only one that will even look at her is my buff .i really hope this works i feel so bad for her .i was even thinking of putting her with my 2 polish and 2 lavenders they are all the same age. what do you think
