Robert asked to buy a propane heater and I told him no. We just don't have that $$ this month. I hope we don't need it because I will never hear the end of it. I just don't think they are safe

If it is one like a little buddy you can BUT make sure you have good ventilation! A cracked window or something like that! And NOT on carpet!! They are dangerous, but if used right can be ok. It is better then freezing!!

Yeah the little buddy looks pretty good. Not too pricey. 69 dollars at Walmart. I bet they are all sold out in your neck of the woods.

Our low was -5. It's -2 right now and snowing. Got about and inch and a half. I think they are expecting somewhere around 4. I know the state of Missouri has declared a state of emergency, prolly because of what is going on in the southern part of the state.

Put on my 4 layers of clothes and took water out to the birds. They were grateful. I'll probably take hot mash out to them at 3:30 when I go out again with water. The only blessing about the weather today is that there isn't any wind. I can't imagine how it would feel with 20 miles an hour worth of wind outside. By the time I got back to the house, I was actually starting to sweat. I felt like the Pillsbury Dough Boy and could barely bend my elbows and knees but hey, I was warm!

This time of the year we always keep an extra month's worth of food on hand just for bad weather and getting snowed in. No worries about heat. Have a barn with about 9 cords of wood in it right now. I look at the amount of wood we have burned through, think of all the work we did harvesting it and want to whimper.

We have a little buddy heater, and one that is bigger and stronger. I'll have to ask my hubby when he gets up (he works nights) what kind it is. I really really hope we don't have to use them and shut off most of the house!!

that's what I bought a few years back and after reading on it took it back to the store. If you need to open windows to run it what's the point of using it? Plus the dogs could knock it over.

Yes! If you have young children or bouncy animals they are very dangerous if not supervised. We never had to open our windows a lot or anything just like a crack for fresh air. It is a last resort for us though. Lord willing we can save for a generator soon that would be so much better, and safer, but they are so expensive When we bought our house the wood stove was suppose to come with it..on closing inspection the guy had ripped it out..and the gate at the top of the driveway..that is all a big cluster..but what are we going to do sue a guy that's in a nursing home now..Lord willing one day we will have a wood stove or a generator!
