No, not yet. The guy said they were 4-6w old. I'm thinking more 6w old.... well 7w old now. How long before they're laying do you think?

Quaillady- I've never heard of British range, is that a rare color?

Do they not perch? I have a perch in there and they don't even glance at it.

British Range is also known as Rosetta. They are a chocolate brown color with gold lacing

Coturnix do not perch as they are ground dwellers.

I love this site! I'm such a newb with quail. I learned so much about chickens when I had them and this site taught me everything I know!

The ranges, rosettas need to be vent sexed or catch them laying an egg. Or crowing.

The Manchurian Golds can be feather sexed. The females will have dark speckles on their whole chests. The males usually have darker heads, they have the rust coloring on their chests when in season. They may have some lighter speckles on the top part of their chests.

But: it is going out of breeding season now(March - September). So it may be harder to feather sex them.

That's why I asked if they were laying yet. A sure sign of maturity when you can vent sex them or just watch them.
I think they are younger than you think. I see more spotting with this set of pictures, so they are still maturing.
There is instructions for vent sexing in the sticky at the top of this quail section.

Keep them on light 14-16 hours a day, that will make them think it is still breeding season so as they mature, you will be able to tell who is who. Or wait until Spring. But if you keep them on light they will think it is spring.

My girls start laying at 6 weeks, but other people have waited 11 weeks or so. So put the lights on a timer and wait for eggs.
If you have females, you will get eggs with light.
