Way to go Texasgal, Chickytocks & Charlestonchick. It is a pygmy rattlesnake. Sorry for the delay in fessy up, I was enjoying the guesses.

This snake is full grown and packs a potent punch if you get bit. I'm hoping its a pregnant female so that the end of August I will have baby pygmys.

BTW Chickytocks, pygmys have live births and the babies are only maybe a inch and a half long when born.

My pygmy is already eating which is great for a wild caught snake.

I'm totally excited about the pygmy because they are really hard to find them being so small and everything. The rattlers are barely bigger than the lead of a pencil. Cool hugh!!!!

If you do decide to get your self a venomous snake I would suggest you start out with a copperhead. Work with one of them until you feel comfortable enough around it to move up to something else.

A bite from a copperhead will mess your day up but you will survive it. Often if a venomous snake bites it will give you a dry bite, just depends on how threatened the snake feels. We have many venomous snakes we can handle bare handed, no snake hook used. These are snakes we have had awhile and as long as we don't make them feel threatened they will not bite.

Have you hatched snake eggs before?
