My new quail project

They do still look to have chick down on their faces so they'll need the heat of the light for maybe a week or two until they are fully feathered. You have a lovely range of colours.

keep in mind that when birds are brought to a new place that could add another several weeks to the time they lay, there is a possibility they may not lay for another 1.5 months! Just so you aren't wondering why you aren't getting eggs!

Hi friends!
My quails are now in home.
They're less big than I suspected. today at morning one of them died, I think was because of cold, they pobably are still very small, so this morning I put a lamp for heating there.
The man who sold me the quails said there are approx. at 1.5 months to start laying eggs, so they probably have like 2 weeks. I really don't know so much about these birds. I think is better to let them to become big to release at the big pen.
how many did you buy, and what is the ratio of hen to cock?

Hi!
Yeah JaeG, there are like 5 diferent color, including a white male, with a black spot in the head.
I will dedicate this 1 month they will remain in the small cage to prepare the big one, I need to plug small holes and places. We had some big rodens (family of capybara) in that cage, so I need to install finer net around that. I have a big piece of concret inside the big cage, like a canoe. I was thinking about put some ground on that. You think they may like this?
JoeQ, I bought 21, one died. there are 4 males and 16 females, as the man who sold said.

You could put a log infront of it for them to climb up on (mine love stairs), fill it with sand and make it their dust bathing area perhaps. They are going to have a lot of fun with that much space.

Dear JaeG, you have stolen my idea of the logs hehehe!
I have some pine logs ready for that. I think also I will put mounts of logs on the left side of the cage (2nd photo).

Hi again!
This morning other quail looks a little bit sick. Is in a corner, and doens't want to wake up. You think should be because is still cold? may I try to close more the small cage?
Would be very frustrating to have more deaths, I don't know if it's normal to have some deaths when you buy this size :(
