You can have a Split Splash bird, that carrries the Lavender gene. Or you can have a visually Lavender bird that was sired by 2 Splash birds that both carried the Lavender gene. But you can only have either a visually Lavender or a visually Splash bird. There is no such thing as a Splash Lavender color. If you're talking genetics, yes they can carry copies of both colors but a single bird cannot express both. This is because Lavender covers Black and Blue (including Splash).
It is not a case of either/or; it can be both. A bird who is lavender AND splash looks more like splash than like lavender, but there may be some evidence that lavender is present. The splash phenotype seems stronger than the lavender phenotype when a bird is both.
This would be a bird who is lav/lav Bl/Bl. If hte bird is Lav+/lav Bl/Bl, then there is no affect from the lavender gene at all.
Imagine tie-dying a black t-shirt in bleach (that for some miraculous reason does not destroy the cloth
) You will get a splotchy shirt--this is your splash. Okay, now bleach the whole shirt again, but this time there are no knots to keep part of the shirt from being bleached--the whole shirt is accessible to the bleach--now you're adding lavender. Do you really think that the shirt will come out completely without splotches? Or will the splotches perhaps be a bit smudgier, and the whole thing perhaps a bit lighter? But it will still be splotchy.

I was waiting for an expert to chime in.
I was just going off knowledge that I've read here on the forum. Great analogy BTW!
Thank you Sonoran. I was waiting for you to come in and back me up. lol I knew I wasn't crazy.
She doesn't just looks like a light splash though. She really does look lavenderish to me.
Especially since she was the only one like her. But there were a few lavender babies as well splash running around together. I guess I will never know. Unless I get some lavender babies.
Forgive me Sonoran. How do you know if it's lav or not from the feather shaft. I've read it before. But have forgotten.
Redhen you just come on over and I will share. My piggy would love to have some fun with yours.
Im no expert but that looks to be a very light splash instead of lavender!! But Im not sure! Thats what they said on the one i had and she looked kinda like that!
