I thought I would throw these pics ou there for those that want to build a little bit bigger tractor type coop. This coop is built on 4x4 timbers that are used for skids, altho I might add wheels later on.

Outside nest box and provisions for feeder and water so you dont have to go inside the coop to retrieve or to remove when moveing the coop.

This next pic shows the cable I attached to make moving it pretty easy with a larger type riding mower. You can also see the ladder that provides access to the top portion of the coop.

A inside shot of the nestboxes, you can also see the roosting perch in the foreground.

And the girls inside enjoying the shade, also notice the access door in the center. I you look at the very bottom of the coop , you might be able to make out the cable and where it is attached to the coop with eyebolts. Attaching the cable near the back of the coop takes the stress off the timber as the coop is being pulled.

NICE
So is the floor 2x4's? I guess what I am asking is it looks like they don't have access to the floor of the coop. Just curious.

If you look at the very back of this pic you can see the access hole in the floor of the coop. This hole is directly over the ladder you can see in one of the pics above.

The coops foot print is 6ft x 10 ft for a total of 60sft of run and 60sqft of coop or a total of 120sqft. I currently have 6 hens and one roo in this coop. Since we move it every other day, they have plenty of graze and very little mess. I can probably house 10 chickens in this design without to much crowding as long as we keep it moved to fresh grazeing. I am also planning on adding more run in the form of a 6'x10'x28" tall moveable run so I can increase my flock. I have one hen setting now that should hatch next week. I will keep all the pullets and get rid of all the roo's.

You could keep 15 chickens in this coop, all you'd need to do is make a detachable run the same size as the one under the coop. You could unhook it in order to move the coop easier. Very nice!!
