OK, one problem with the swingout feed/water doors. I didnt leave enough space between the bottom of the door and the 4x4 timber. The weigh of the water can is causeing the door to drag. I might have to resize the door. Just something for others to think about if they decide to build something similar. Also, I dont know how well this setup will work with chicks as the bottom of the feeders are 4 inches off the ground. I suspect the chicks would just hop up there and eat and drink, I am certain they would once they got used to it, but it might take a bit of training for them to find their food so high off the ground. The feeder and water being set up does seem to keep them cleaner than they where just setting on the ground.

It would adapt fine for baby chicks, too. For newborn chicks, you'd need shallower water dish anyways the first few days to help avoid drowning hazard, & you could just put that dish & a feed dish on the ground the first few days.

Thanks for the nice comments. I worked off and on the coop for about a month. I had to hurry up and finish it last week because one of the hens decided to go broody and set. She hatched out 2 little chicks yesterday, about a week faster than I was expecting. Evidently she had been setting longer than I was aware of.

I am planning on adding some plexiglass window covers for the winter months. That should help keep the coop a little warmer. I wanted the open design to provide good ventilation and so I could see inside without going inside or opening doors. The coop moves easier than I expected, but I will still probably add wheels when I get the time.
