My newest "kids" ...snake pics inside ..fair warning :o)

Thank you again, everyone! They are all settled in and will be attempting a meal here soon ..waiting for the hoppers to thaw out

The male was really nudging my hand, when I had him out, so I think he's hungry ..and his former "mommy" said they haven't eaten since last Friday (normally eating 2x a week) ..so even with travel, I think they will eat for me this soon.

Btw... my chickens are all big enough now to kill a snake the size of this pair ..and maybe larger, even. Ben has proven to be a very good mouser boy, in fact ..and he "kills" the phone cord everyday!!

He was "killing" an empty sack of Start n' Grow yesterday ..cuz his Triplets were in danger!

Beautiful snake!! We have an albino Burmese Python named Reggie who is great and a little scary as she eats large rabbits now. She lives at my husband's shop, not here because I have way too many pets who could end up in her belly

What beautiful snakes you have! Thank you for sharing!

I have 3 wild-caught red corn snakes, 1 female about 3' long, 1 male about 2' long, and another a little shorter, we think is a female. I found the first one in the yard one night, knew I couldn't leave her there because I had baby chicks at the time. We've already lost a few chicks to corn snakes. My middle son had been asking for a pet snake, so we decided to keep "Snakey".

About a month later I found the second one inside the house, on the windowsill near Snakey's tank. I found another tank for him & named him "Bungee".

And then about a month ago I found a snake on top of the parakeet cage in the patio. I thought perhaps Bungee had gotten loose, and reached for it. After holding it for a few minutes I realized it wasn't Bungee after all, but a third snake! We're not sure of its sex but are keeping "Argyle" in the same tank with Bungee, & they're getting along very nicely.

I'm trying to raise enough mice to keep them all fed. I wish I could post photos at this time, they're all beautiful snakes. Have lots of fun with yours!

Ohhh.. they sound beautiful!

I'd love to see them, when and if you can ever post pics.

I have a friend in FL that has one wild caught ...gorgeous snake! She rescued it from certain death at one of her neighbor's.

I'm thinking of moving back down South, too.. but I can't have my Corns in GA ..where I'm originally from.. so FL is looking better and better to me

Gorgeous Corns! Het Anery too, that's awesome. I have 6 myself, including two Amels like yours. I dont think the Zigzag pattern can come in a het, can it? So would that mean that the male isnt a zigzag, but maybe came from the same clutch as other zigzags so is more likely to produce some? Ahh, genetics confuse me way too easily, haha. Do you plan on breeding them?

Gorgeous snakes! As for the whole venomoid subject... yeah, that's another subject, haha.

Thank you!!

I do plan to breed them ..and yes, I could get some Anery A from this pair, as well as, Snow and more Amels. They are siblings, so the "zigzag" should phenotype in some of the offspring ...but only the female is showing it. I guess ...huge guess... the male has the pattern in his genotype?

Heck! I am still learning the genetics and fancy "marketing" names of all these Corns, myself.

My friend was having an issue with her landlord all the sudden and didn't want to risk getting evicted, so she parted out her collection to a few of us ...and I got the Corn babies.

The boy has already escaped, been discovered, shed and eaten 2 meece hoppers

The little girl ate 2 also ..but no exciting events with her yet... she's supposedly more laid back. She certainly is gentle about eating ...she took the meece out of my hand with such finesse ..I was in awe. (..but I am used to my Leucistic TX Rat ..Puck! ...that hides under the lid, awaiting my hand.. the tongs... and whatever else she can grab in addition to her meecer!

Okay... I went on Kathy Love's site and found that she thinks there "may be at least two genetic influences" that cause the zigging or "aztec" patterns.

I'll ask around with some of my breeder friends, too.

I was told there could be some "motley" in the mix ..but my understanding is that "motley" has a pure white belly (although not according to Serpwidget's site info ..it can vary) ...these do not have pure white.

I think Snow being Amel and Anery is probably the EASIEST thing to know about Corn Genetics, haha. After that is gets horrible. I didnt think zigzag could be considered a het, but I guess a snake that is zigzagged is more likely to throw zigzagged babies? Im still totally new to this as well, lol.

As for the Motley being in the mix, is it possible that they are het. Motley? Motleys do have a pure white belly, but if they are het. for Motley, then they wont have clear bellies. Like I said, Im a total newbie, haha. Good luck with the mix! Are you going to breed them next year? I have a pair I've been debating with, we shall see! The Female is just a normal with unknown hets, but the male is an Amel het for Caramel and Stripe, which means he can make Butter Stripes if bred with the right female!
