i was able to successfully hatch 2 out of 5 peacock eggs... i was as happy as can be... but suddenly, only hours after hatching both my babies died
anyone can tell me some reasons as of why this happened??? maybe i did something wrong
i just felt hopeless...
anybody??? please!!!
ok, well the first one that hatched looked very healthy, the second one i had to help open the egg... because it was almost 8 hours after it tried to crack the egg, i just helped it a bit, but that one wouldn't stand up, his legs were wide open and he just couldn't do it. they were in a brooder under a lamp after they hatched and dried. i didn't put shavings on it, i put lots of finely shredded news paper... i wasn't ready for them to hatch, since i expected them to hatch 2 days later. they were in the incubator for 26 days, and i read in many sites that it takes 27 to 30 days for pea chicks to hatch. i also didn't provide water nor food because i also read somewhere that you must wait 24 hours before providing food or water, but they were only alive for only about 10 hours...
was i miss informed about the water and food? or maybe the news paper didn't help?
i have some more eggs in another incubator and i don't want them to die... can someone give advice?
