I can see why you like him so much. It's so cute how he scrambles when the hens go for him

Shame, you must get him some (smaller) girlfriends.

I have several D'Anver pullets I could give him, but I don't have a place to put them nor do I want yet another separate group. I'm trying to phase out the bantams entirely over time. I just thought maybe he could live with the Orps after they lost Suede. He barely takes up any room in there and certainly doesn't eat much.

Well, well, well, maybe there's hope for Xander after all. I witnessed a commotion through the hardware cloth screen door in the Orp coop and upon investigation, found Xander mating Nugget, as well as he could, that is. She was completely submissive to him and when he jumped off, he immediately jumped into the bottom nest box and started clucking, like, "QUICK! You're fertile now-pop out that egg, woman!".

He was so proud of himself. And there hasn't been bloodshed in there for a few days so just maybe they're calling a truce.

However, when I was putting them in awhile ago and walked through the gate, Xander danced up and bit my shoe, the little snot rag. I scooped him up, held his beak, then flicked it with my finger and told him no and shoved him through the pop door. That better not continue or he's going to be on my bad side, as well as the Orps'.

Oh man, I'm glad to hear he's getting on better with the girls, but he mustn't go and ruin it now!

Guess I really should say that we lost Xander a few weeks ago. He suddenly went downhill and passed away as he was turning 4 years old. He was a great and unexpectedly wonderful addition to our flock. He never had any bantam hens, only the big girls, which is the way he wanted it.
