Ok my goslings got is leg bitten off by a snapper turtle and want to know what to do? Seems ok in the water but not so good on land. Any suggestions? Please help

Felt I did not want to spend$$$ I think I will let nature will take it course
If it's still in the water with the snapping turtles I think more than nature will take it's course. especially if your not treating it at all. and what about the rest of your waterfowl? snappers are killers and will bite off legs and feet and eat waterfowl. You need to get them out of your pond if your going to keep waterfowl.

When owning animals there is the responsiblilty of knowing when to let nature take its course and when to get a vet. Losing a limb is not a time for nature. Domesticated animals depend on us for food and care. The idea of "nature take its course" went out the window the minute someone looked at an animal and said "i think ill make that a pet"
Yes things happen but there is some times when accidents are worse then others this is serious, Miss Lydia is right if you want to keep waterfowl the snappers need to go or you will have a flock of them missing one or both legs or no flock at all. Some snappers get big enough to take the head off of a full grown goose. Spending money on a vet for the goose and an externinator to remove the snappers is a lot less than trying to buy more birds to replace the ones you lost, its cheaper in the long run.

If you cannot afford to take the bird to the vet, then please put the bird out of its misery rather than letting "nature take its course", if by that you mean let it die. The poor gosling is undoubtedly in serious pain. It is fairly simple to put a chick down, though its never "easy".

In the future you will need to address the threats to your flock, especially if you cannot or are unable to get veterinary treatment. If you can't treat then your only real option is to prevent.

I am sorry this happened to your gosling. :hugs

All you other geese will also loose legs eventually if you don't do something to protect them.

As for legging this injured bird suffer and let nature take its course, that is very cruel.

Sorry this happen to your gosling.
But as the others said you need to prevent future attacks on the geese by having the exterminator and removing all the turtles.
Plus you need to take that gosling to the vets. If it is money you are concerned about some vets will work with you on payments.... But that baby need attention fast....

One thing I have learned if you can not afford the vet then one really need not to have any animals because they are always some time or another they are going to need a vets help!!!
Remember they also have feelings of PAIN just like we do. Think about yourself and if that turtle bit your leg off and how it would feel.... Same difference animals have feeling and pain just as we do!!!!!!
