My one woman built coop

I’m so impressed! My partner has too many construction projects this summer, and he refuses to consider building a coop for another year. I don’t want to wait. He is a carpenter, so whatever I try won’t be good enough! But yours is fantastic!

Is the back still open like the first two pictures?

And is the top of the wall between the coop and run still open, like the first two pictures?

Air circulation is very important ... especially trying to keep them cool in the summer ... ;)

While it is too late now ... I would have built the roof over hangs about an extra 2' ... shade! :)

Do you have any pictures of the inside?

Overall you did a fabulous job, it does look very nice, and we'll built, much better than any $700 pre-fab!
Yes the back is open like the front without the trim. I left the gables open in the middle wall which i estimate 3 sq feet. I should have placed a similar window on back of coop like the one over nest boxes but did not think of ventilation until sfter reading the srticle on this site. May do that sfter enlarging run.
I agree completely on the overhangs butvcost was starting to be a factor and thst would have meant an additional 2 4 by 8 sheets of plywood. The coop is on the true north end and the run door is on the south. I have some grape vines started on the west side which along with my existing pstio should lend some shade. The cinder blocks are set on concrete about 12 inch footer of concrete and i filled the interior with ravine sand. I will post interior pictures in the morning.

I did this based on a plan i purchased online. It is my first time building anuthing involving a saw. Did it in just under 2 months and hoping to get chicks soon. Unfortunately chicken math is hitting hard and i am already making plans to attach a larger enclosed run area. My total all in costs were just under 700.00 which far exceeded my original 350 budget. Critiques always welcome as i am new. 6 foot by 12 foot total foot print so far View attachment 1689294 View attachment 1689294 View attachment 1689299 View attachment 1689300
