"My Page" help

Hello,I am new on the site.I would like to know a few things pertaining to "my page"
1.how can I use the background option,I can't seem to change it?.
2.I noticed a hit counter on one persons page,How would I find that option?

First of all welcome to the forum. I can help you with #2 but not one sorry.
