My Pallet Coop

Nice! I'm in the middle of building out pallet coop too.

We are using 7 pallets, 2 for floor, 5 for walls (last wall will be a big clean-up door), I had found the basic design by googling "DIY Pallet Chicken Coop" and used the frame idea with my own twist.

I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of your coop! I'll try to post some of mine, I was hoping to be done but we had storms and rain the past few days, so didn't get to work on it much, hopefully this weekend we'll make progress, in the meantime our 11 week old girls are in the living room in an old covered baby crib

Wow! This looks awesome!! My husband have built a pallet coop as well, but we made it to look more like a shed so that we can walk in. Gotta love free materials! Mine doesn't match very well, but it works well and that's what really matters to me!

That's pretty great! I keep meaning to do similar things but I know I could never build one that tight with my brand of patience I've always wanted external nest boxes but I'm afraid the eggs will have issues in severe cold - though that's probably just a good excuse for not breaking out the power tools.

I did some redesigning on my breaks at work yesterday... I'm going with a trap door floor instead of a slider and I've also decided to add a large window to the back that will double as an access door. Today will be 'build the yard' day if the rain holds off.

I traded my buddy some labor (clean up involving a pitchfork) for more sheet metal for the roof.

Can someone tell me the standard way to attach chicken wire to the frame? I was planning to use staples with my staple gun but wasn't sure about how the staples would handle weather.

Hardware cloth is the way to go but it is pricey for some people, chicken wire won't keep predators out but if you use it I would use screws with fender washers, pull tight and secure staples won't be strong enough.

Hmm... predators can get through chicken wire? What kind of predators do you have in Massachusetts? Hehe

Raccoons and dogs around here, they can tear through chicken wire like a hot knife through butter, keep the pictures coming I'm curious to see the end result.

Okay... the chickens went into their new home tonight and so far they seem happy with it. I'm building their yard tomorrow. Here's a few more pics.

Looks great!! This actually gave me a cheap easy idea for expanding out coop! You can also take strip of wood and sandwich the chicken wire between the wood strip and your run frame and screw that together. It's easy and secure!
