Give a howdy to chick 18 that hatched today out of Ares Black Shoulder and Thalia IB white eye hen. Chick should be IB white eye split BS if I am correct.

If your Indiablue white eye hen got two copies of white eye gene ( lot of white specks on her tail feathers ), every chick of her will inherit one copy of white eye gene ( a few white eyes only , may be 20 in the tail feathers ) On the other hand, if the mother got only one copy of w/e gene, only 50% of her chicks inherit a copy of w/e gene .Every thing you said about that chicks genetics is correct Yoda. Congrats, on hatching good many exotic and new types of pea chicks.Interestingly, I have a purple split white single copy w/e gene male and purple split pied single copy hen, laid 6 eggs so far, and expecting to hatch, purple pieds, purple silver pieds, purple with double factor w/e genes etc...Can not wait to see the chicks.

OMG! Egg was laid in my hand! Well if you read my other hatching thread from 2011 you will remember "Irene" the little chick that hatched when hurricane Irene hit Connecticut. I was afraid of losing power and losing my eggs in the incubator and this one white chick hatched during the peak of the storm. Granted her Greek Goddess name is Tethys, but I call her Irene LMAO! Well she looked like she was having issues all day trying to pass an egg but then again it could've been the heat as well. I placed Jackson - the blind peacock up on the perch and was petting him and talking to him and then Irene flew up. I put my hand down palm side up on the perch and she walked over and started breathing hard and making little chirping sounds and then pop an egg was in my palm LMAO! I cannot believe that she laid it in my hand. I have never heard of this done before. I did not have any camera but ran up to the house and had a picture taken. I swear as GOD as my witness she DID lay it in my hand. How cool is that?

Too funny, but I do believe you, 'cause I've had a few chickens do it and I've had to stand under one of my peahens to catch her falling egg as she likes to lay them while perching. -Kathy
