Seeking advice... we have 3 peahens and a peacock. The peahens were disappearing at different times of the day and foe different lengths of time over the past six weeks so we suspected they were sitting on eggs. 3 weeks ago one peahen showed back up with 5 adorable peachicks. They are still here with mama and getting bigger every day. Yesterday we woke to an odd chipping outside the front window. We stepped out to find a newly hatched peachicks right outside the door with no adults or siblings in site. We picked it up and suddenly heard another ... it was down the hill about 50 feet away. We picked up this one. We started down the drive to look for more and found another about 150 or more feet away. This one had some skin missing around the eye and it was bleeding a bit. It appeared as if the egg was stuck and mama pulled it off. We added this one to our armful and headed back towards home where my mom had found 3 more in various parts of the yard. Meanwhile the 2 peahens that had been taking turns sitting on the eggs sauntered down the drive (from the spot 1/8 a mile down where they chose to make their nest). They came home together and began eating and primping themselves up in front of their mirror. Clearly they had done their part and it is now our turn. They are all 6 in our brooder and seem happy so far. I put down a small piece of indoor outdoor carpet so they don't slip around as well. We are feeding them scrambled eggs mixed with chick starter and have prebiotics in their water. I have read many posts from people that have lost their peachicks so welcome any and all comments and advice. Thank you! Kathy from NJ indiana
