My Pekin repeatedly goes after one of my chickens.

He shouldn't hurt them at night then?  Maybe I will let him just wander about...and he will come back at night to go to the coop?  But, then again, maybe it would be better to pen him up.  My chickens like to hop their run once in a while...

I probably could sell him, but my kids love "her."  Wait til they get home from school and I tell them what I've found out.
He may leave them alone if he has enough ducks to satisfy him?

LOL aoxa, is that a hint to get more ducks??

How many does a drake need to keep him happy? Like I mentioned, I have that little mallard I just picked up, but I have no idea what he/she is. Watch, that one will be a boy, too.

Pekins are very large, so I'd get him some pekin girls. Maybe 3.. That's what I was told would satisfy my drake. Unfortunately we couldn't get any more at the time, so we had to rehome him.

And yes, get more ;)

Pekin drakes will tear up a hen, especially if she is smaller. I dunno if I'd keep him personally. Hens are quite loud when they quack. Drakes, not so much (which is why I keep them!) Sounds like you have a boy, and yes he should get drake feathers on his tail.

You could keep a bachelor flock as well....my drakes get silly in the spring and summer, but do quite well without the girls around.

Well, I'm going to inform my kids when they come home and see what they think. I am currently letting him run around outside the run with his little pool of water and he seems happy just eating grass and walking around.

The poor white rock that he was tormenting is back outside in the run. She seems so much happier.

So, we shall see. Maybe we can rehome him and pick another baby mallard from the store.
