My perfect hawk deterent

He is one awesome Tom Turkey. I never really thought about having a turkey until I saw him . . .he is really a pretty boy.

Thank you, I love him dearly. He is so sweet to all my hens and comes real close to me when I sit outside with them. He stares at me with those big eyes and makes me smile. When he is on his perch for the night, I can pet him.

Oh your Tom is handsome. I had a pair of mix Royal Palms, I only have the Tom left now. I think the hawks, owls and the bobcats had a Predator board meeting a few weeks ago. I think the hawks, owls told the bobcat to get the female turkey and kill her so that the flying pred's could get back into the chicken buffet. Opened up the 5-9 week old chicks coop yesterday came in the house got their feed and back out, say 10 minutes at the most.....found a dead headless chick on the brooder. Well my tom does not have access to this coop so he couldn't protect them. Now I am seeing about 5-8 hawks circling in the sky.

I am getting more turkeys the end of this month. I just love them. My Dh can get our tom to talk to him.

Interesting. BEautiful bird by the by.

Our birds free run with the horses and alpacas. Dogs are on the other side of the fence so I guess that keeps most of them away. Ravens only dare to steal eggs that are dropped in the yard.

We have the odd weasel but that's it. I always wondered if there was just too much activity in the paddock for other predators to try.
