My Pet Chicken?? ordering chicks?

Cetawin, let us know how your salmon Favs do. I was going to order one this year with our other MPC chicks but they suggested, because these are partly my young daughters and Salmon Favs are apparently not the thriftiest of chicks, that we order hardier breeds. They're SO PRETTY though, so let us know your experience!

That's part of what drew me to MPC.. I love my banties.. and would like more.. but I want to have them sexed.. and not just straight run. My 5 from the feed store came from Ideal, and are straight run.. but I am so impatient, I am going nuts waiting for secondary sex characteristics!!

Pullets or Roos? Pullets or Roos? With my luck, all 5 will be roos, LOL!

Ohh well, I love them so much anyway!!

We ordered our first chickens from MPC last September and were very pleased. We ordered 15 females and 1 male and that's exactly what we got (plus one extra thrown in that died in the box).

They were all very healthy and I am going to order from them again.

I ordered 4 Wyndottes from MPC and they arrived a little cold but perfectly fine. I put them immediately in 95 degree heat and they warmed right up. They are now 7 weeks old and just beautiful. I didn't mind paying extra to be guaranteed hens. Plan to pick up your chickens as soon as you are notified they are at the post office. I would be concerned that they might get too cold if left there for any length of time. I would buy from MPC again.

Will do. They are not very hardy as chicks but I am going to try ordering them with Red Stars and Cochins...hopefully they will transport good.

So MPC will replace roosters if you ordered pullets? I think I might have a couple roos, they are going on 7 weeks old, and I heard an EE trying to crow this morning. How soon would I have to let them know I got roos instead of pullets?

I ordered 8 from MPC. I origiannly was going to P/U at Tractor supply but they were not sexed, and I want all hens.
Anyway they are due to ship May 12. Being that many of you have ordered from MPC, how was the shipping? Does the hatchery or Post Office call you as soon as they ship and arrive? Hopefully they will be here on the 13th

Whenever your excited about receiving something it seems to take forever. I am so excited about my little chickies arriving.
Glad to see all were happy with MPC:)

I was thrilled to see all of the positive feed back on MPC. I recentley placed an order and have been IMpatiently waiting!! They will be here next tuesday or wed AM. I called my local post office and they assured me they would call as soon as the truck got there at around 5:15AM!! That will be a very early trip to town, but I am SO excited. I agree the cost is a little high but it is a convienance to have them sexed and to be able to order so few. My order for 8 chicks cost $80, however that includes 2 female silkies. Lke someone said they charge $7 to sex those. I will post pictures as soon as they arrive!

I got five from them and they all got here great. They put a hand warmer in with them. We live in the country, and they got here about 5:30 am. They have great customer service. Here is a picture of them -

Oh that picture is so cute. I have to say that the customer service gals I've dealt with are wonderful. I especially like Stephanie, she has been so wonderful in helping me out.
Hats off to MPC for job well done so far.
I'll let you all know when my chikies arrive
