My Pet Chicken?? ordering chicks?

Yikes! Small orders are expensive there! I ordered 10 chicks from Ideal, specified no males for warmth, and paid insurance. A whopping $1.65. My total was $35.05.

All 10 chicks arrived alive. Of course, I was lucky that the post office hub called me at night to come pick them up, so they were only in transit 2 days and 1 night.

Well now... I've got some concerns~

I ordered from my pet chicken and they are supposed to arrive Wednesday. They told me to go to the post office they day they shipped the chicks. Which would be Monday. I'm trusting everything will be Ok.
They said they might send an extra chick incase one dies in transit. Now I'm worried that they won't even get here from the talk on the forum!

I'll let you all know what happens.

The customer service people were great! And I had much success with emailing them and getting a response. So drum roll please....

Crossing my fingers they'll arrive safe and sound!
Even if I have to get up at 5 am to go get them~
Pat:)

I am in the same boat as you! Mine are due to arrive tomorrow. I too will be up at 5 (maybe a little earlier!) to drive to town to get them! I am excited and a little nervous from everything I have read too! I will also post the "results" as you might say! Everyone wish us luck!!! I want to add that I too have had great experience with their customer service dept.

So we are 1 day apart~
I get them on Wed....

Now I'm a nervous wreck...

My husband will be gone, my son's 22nd Birthday, and I'm going to go to the dentist and talk about implants!!!!!!

Pattee, Did you get an e-mail from MPC when they shipped? When they recieved my order they gave me tomorrows date but I havnt heard anything:( Not sure what to think...I want my babies!! I am praying for the safe delivery of yours:)

hmmm, MPC gave me a postal tracking number so I could check and see where they were, I wonder why you guys didn't get a number from them too? I didn't ask for it, they just told me it . although there was a situation...I had called them to see when my chicks were due to be shipped, and they said they were shipped the day before! and didn't I get the email? nope , no email... checked spam and everything, so they gave me the tracking number and I followed them from Ohio to PA and knew just when to expect the call from the PO.

MPC sent me a confirmation email that the chicks would be sent out on X date and said that they didn't include tracking numbers. Then when the chicks didn't show up and I emailed them, they spent the better part of the morning trying to come up with a tracking number. That was when they decided that perhaps they hadn't sent me any chicks as had been promised and ordered. I ordered the chicks in February for an April 21st shipping date. Never got a tracking number, never got any chicks.
They are trying again next Monday. Apparently they were out this week (although I technically was in the pipeline long before many of this week's orders and technically should have been filled first!). So I had to wait two months after placing the order and then an additional two weeks after the order should have been sent! We'll see if they show up next week. I will likely be in contact with them starting Monday morning to insure that it all happens this time around. Clearly being a pest is a better idea so they don't "forget" you!
I have to say that the two week delay has totally screwed up my schedule. I very specifically ordered them to be here last week to fit with all the stuff I knew I had to do right now. Now they will be showing up at a somewhat busy time. The end of last week and all of this week had been dedicated to being home to keep an eye on the new babies! Grrrrrr!

My only advice is to pester the snot out of them starting the day they are supposed to be sending out your chicks. That way you know for sure that the chicks are being mailed and can get a tracking number on day one. I trusted them and kinda got screwed.

Good luck! I hope your new babies show up safe and sound!

I just looked up my original e-mail from MPC and it stated that they would NOT be sending me confirmation or a tracking # when my chicks were shipped! They also said they don't have an automated way to provide this and the USPS doesnt update package info often enough for tracking # to be helpful! I think I copied that all right! Anyway... why not? How do I know for sure I wasn't forgotten except when my babies don't show? I see some of you did get confirmation #s and or e-mails! What gives?!
Gitygirl, I am going to take your advice and shoot them an e-mail right now! Let the pestering begin!!! Thanks for the good luck wishes, sounds like I might need them!

Hmmmm... and I feel so confident in them. There customer service has been great. Their babies were sold out quickly so I thought Great~ Now I'm just praying they get here safe.

I also got an email and I've talked to Stephanie (she's great) and they told me that they don't send a tracking order, they just give you a date when their sent and when they'll be there..

I sure hope your babies come safe.

I went to the post office and they told me that the box of chicks should have my phone # on the box, so I'm emailing them and asking if they did that for sure.

We'll all be waiting with baited breathe to see if we get them~

to us all.

Pleas don't get me wrong! MPC's customer service department is GREAT! I talked to both Laurie and Stephanie and they were fabulous! Both were extremely apologetic and helpful. Their emails have been delightful and helpful.
Apparently the hatchery end has a problem. In today's computer age, I find it very hard to believe that an order was "forgotten". Clearly this has happened more than once. The hatchery they use needs better organizational skills.

Thank heavens the customer service ladies were nice! They are the only reason I didn't cancel my order and get some elsewhere.

Good luck to you all! Post pics of your babies when they show up!
