Hey, I'm going to order from them this February. I've heard good things about this place, and we can't afford to spend time, money, and love into males. So, I'm going to order eight pullets, 4 being that of the crested variety, and hope for the best.

We ordered from McMurray two years ago and only lost one bird, which was a recent freak accident that I was to blame for. The chicks came healthy and happy, but pet quality. I'm not expecting anything less from MPC, but I want to know your personal experience. Such as, did yours makes it, were they sexed properly, and did they win any competitions? Anything else you'd like to add would only benifit me.

That brings me to my next point. I'm showing for the first time in June, at a small country fair, FOR FUN. I don't expect to win anything, but I'm still interested to see how yours came out and of what quality were they.

Thank you everyone!

I haven't bought from them yet, but I'm planning to after hearing some good feedback from this group. I'm getting japanese bantams and not expecting show quality birds. I don't know if any large hatchery that sells truly show quality.

Like you I want sexed bantams and MPC is the only place it's possible to get them.

My McMurray birds were all very healthy, but no where near show quality. After seeing how they varied from breed standard I wouldn't bother ordering decorative birds from them at all. I would and probably will continue to order my layers form them.

A friend ordered from Ideal and again got very healthy birds, but low grade in appearance. Several of her cochins barely have any feathers on their legs.

February seems a long way off when you're waiting to order peeps!

I have a runner that came from a hatchery...not sure which one. She doesn't even look like a runner...more like a splotchy khaki campbell. Now, she is a healthy bird and the person that bought her from the hatchery gave to to me for free, but she isn't even close to breed standard. Had I paid for her, I would have been really annoyed.

They don't own their own birds or hatchery. They get chicks from mcmurray, ideal, etc and just ship them out, so the quality won't be any better.

I had GREAT luck with my chicks from mypetchicken...........

BTW.......if you see this wifezilla.......the 2 climbing on me in that pic you saw......those are from MPC.

Thanks you everyone. This is very helpful for me! In the long run, I only want healthy, accurately sexed birds. And, yes, columbiacritter, February is a LONG way off in my mind. I just can't wait anymore.

Julie, thank you for pointing that out. I do remember hearing they're all from the same places. It's still good to know.

Keep those good reports coming, people of the forum!
