My Pet Chicken

I did have one chick from there die, but I am convinced 100% that was the fault of USPS.

Hope you manage to convince him, they have a great service.
Oh no so sorry :-( the travel can be really tough on those little ones. Wonder what happened? She said they were all happy and fine?? Hmmmm a little weird

I just had my first order from Ideal ship today, I am expecting 11 chicks. I will let you know how they are when they arrive. I am hoping they get to me in the morning but TX to IA, it could be Friday when they get here. I am sure MPC will be great, they were my first choice but I couldn't get all the breeds I wanted as many were sold out or not available on the same shipment.

I've ordered 20 chickens from MPC. Of them, one was DOA, another died soon afterwards, but other than that, no problems. This was last year, though. These 'chicks' are now over a year old.

I ordered from MPC. One of my 7 chicks died shortly after arrival, while another had both eyes still sealed shut, but lived. All my chicks were girls as promised (even the bantams), and they didn't send me any fillers. I was a bit annoyed when the hatchery promised 3 different breeds of bantams when you order 5+ but I only got 2 different breeds. 4 Easter Eggers and 1 barred rock that died. :/ I dont really blame the hatchery too much for the dead chick though, because some of them just wont make it. also got a Polish from Ideal Poultry which is awful show quality. Overall, my experience with MPC was good. My birds are over 2 years old now.

I got my chicks! They were shipped from Ideal (TX) on Wednesday and Thursday morning my post office called to tell me they were ready for pick up (IA)!!!! I am soo happy, they all arrived happy and healthy along with 5 barred rock roos, grrrr. I didn't think I would get packing pnuts since I was ordering from Texas in JULY but oh well, my chicks were happy and healthy and that is all I really care about. We did lose 1 one day later but I think that is the fault of my 2 yr. old. He figured out how to open the brooder and I caught him with one in a strangle hold. I freed the chick and it ran off seemingly unharmed but then 12 hr later I found a dead one. The chicks were in too good of shape for it to have been stress from shipping or failure to thrive issues I think. I'll just have to add a lock to the brooder and watch my little stinker a bit closer! So overall extremely happy with Ideal!!

I have ordered from MPC twice, great place. But it's hard ordering small others, really expensive. The chickens don't lay much my Welsummer lays eggs smaller then my bantams, she isn't a bantam., but I did get a olive egger from them and I am curious to know how she will turn out laying :).

I ordered from mpc with a shipping date of July 14 I was so excited to receive my first baby chicks unfortunately 5 of the 6 were dead :( I was extremely upset the one that was alive died also hours later. Mpc did say this never happens and is extremely rare they reshipped a order, I should receive them tomorrow I'll let you know.

Wow. That's devastating. I could understand one or two, but five? Sorry you had to deal with that. At least MPC is very good with refunding.

I ordered 7 chicks from MPC in May. All arrived alive and are thriving. I believe the genders to be correct on all of them as well (all female). This is how they came packed:

I would use them again, I was very happy with my order. :)
