Crossing the Road
She's just being honest. You said yourself that you were worried about the duck, so clearly you acknowledge it was, or could have been, a problem?Okay, that's not too much of an option, he lives inside with me and there's not much separation beyond putting a tiny fence in my tiny house so that he's away from the giant dog, but that leaves him in this less than five foot square space to sit in all day long, the dogs still walk up to HIM. He's my baby, all I have, so thank for the 'warning' for next time, real encouraging.
We just don't want to give you false encouragement that could end in heartbreak if your dog accidently hurts your bird. We've heard of it happening oh so many times.
Is this a house duck? If so, 5sqft isn't enough space all day- couldn't you consider a play pen set up? I had my girls inside for a while and used two puppy pens joined together. They were about £30 each but you could make something cheaper. It gave them a decent amount of room and meant the dog couldn't get to them.
Or could you consider housing the duck (and a friend?) Outside?
I hope you can figure something out, and that your duck is okay.
