my presents are 10 to 12 weeks give or take the problem I am having is that the feathers on their back are gone is this due to them fighting or being picked on or is it a stage of feather loss that they go thru?

Most likely they are feather picking and plucking. Are they ring necks or ornamentals?

This is not an uncommon problem with pheasant raising in pen situations. I once visited one of our state run pheasant rearing facilities, and the birds were all fitted with Pinless Peepers - to be removed prior to release. Try providing some brush piles and hiding areas in your pens. You don't mention how large your pens are and how many birds you have. Your birds may be overcrowded.
