Really parents, no incubator! I literally cannot believe this!

I posted a thread that I gave them a nest bowl, and every day Id say, 'Well, they havnt broken the eggs yet. Huh"

Last friday I thought the eggs were very dark and Id have to chuck them soon. Then my horse foaled early and took me by surprise, beautiful healthy filly, but I totally forgot the piges for a few days aside from normal food and water routines.

This morning I thought Isha looked very secretive on that nest bowl. At lunch time I noticed they both had pigeon milk around their beaks. It wasnt til late afternoon I saw...My beautiful boy pige gently leaning his head down....And a tiny yellow fuzzy head coming up to his beak! I almost burst into tears right there, I had goose bumps all over, my lovely boy pige, being the perfect daddy! This trumps doing it myself by a million, the feeling of watching him feed his baby, oh I didnt think he had it in him.

I got a sneaky look in and its one squab one egg at this stage. Im making sure they have plenty of food and water but staying well out of their way other than that. The cage has been moved so the rats cant drop onto its roof - there are still rats around but to get into the cage they would have to get on the floor to climb it...And that would leave them vulnerable to my most recently rescued feral cat, Shadow. Hes already killed three.

I promise some pics for you all in a couple of days, Im very busy right now. My stallion is in love with his daughter and now my boy pige is being a perfect daddy too!

Jackie & Frostie were hatched December 26th 2012.
Took this pictures this morning Jan 10, 2013. Jack & Frostie are now 13 & 14 days old. Doing well in their Styrofoam nest box. I seem to be getting a lot of brown in some of the offspring of my White Doves??

Here they are out of the nest box and fully fledged for the most part.

This is the nest box I devised to keep them warm once the birds were too large to incubate by the parents.

Hi everyone, my guys are on day 3 now

Heres a little pic taken yesterday morning. I couldnt get a look in the bowl this morning but they have done great so far. Its hard to believe, after 5 years of frustration, that all I needed was a $2 ceramic bowl!

Mine r new parents too but it only took 3 weeks.

We had plenty of eggs....Over 5 years they only got one to hatch, and thats continous laying. Thats why this lil guy is such a big deal. I knew they could lay, I even knew they could hatch, I just didnt believe they could actually PARENT!

Mines 9 days old now, I'll get some pics up for you soon. He's super cute!
