So Ricky, My Pilgrim gander , has now gotten out twice, it's a 5 foot fence and he has alot of room. He never goes far cause his mate, Goosey, is still inside but what can I do to stop his escapes? Can't really put a top on the fence it's my backyard.
Thanks,
Kim

I wonder why he is wanting to leave his mate? is he actually going over the fence at the same place each time? you might try putting something up along that one area to discourage him, lots of preds out there just waiting for him, dogs too. I've heard of people using chicken wire and letting it hang over inside the fence to discourage going over.Seems he has to be flying, you can clip one wing of flight feathers and keep him inside too.

I am having a similar problem with my goose(pilgrim). She goes over but, then hangs out very close to the fence line...until mom comes home and "saves" her. She's the gray one so I assume she's a she...

Well I trimmed one of his wings and he hasn't escaped since. So, fingers crossed.

Well it seems as though both of your geese are living up to their breeds name.
The term Pilgrim literally means one who travels far, usually to a sacred place for religious reasons.
Is there a church or monastery nearby...J/Kidding...lol !!!

sorry if that was in poor taste. I just couldn't resist !!!
