My poor Cottonball!!!!! [RIP Cottonball]

well, Cottonball survived the night.. his poor little eyelids are swollen shut this morning. I need to bathe him, he's covered in chicken poop..
I got him to drink some water just now.

He can't/won't stand at all..
The firstcouple of nights are the hardest! Don't give up on those eyes...for some reason one of my hens had it swollen shut. I put her in quarentine and cleaned her eye every day with a rag and water, it's opened up now! I think she is getting her vision back in that eye.

Cottonball hasn't changed at all.. he won't stand or walk, won't eat or drink water.
I'm going to take him back to the vet tomorrow. Maybe they can get some fluids into him and he will be able to recover.

Some of you might think it is stupid/weird.. but everything deserves a chance to live.... and if I have the power to help him live, I will do it.

thats what i would do too but for now mix up some suger water and try to get some water and food(soked in water)in him with a syring also maybe put him on a heating pad
best of luck

I don't think you're stupid/weird, I've gone to great lengths myself to save chickens. It's so worth it when they get better! Try giving him a soluble vitamin supplement in water. Give it to him with a syringe or dropper. Good luck and fingers crossed he makes it!

I'm so sorry for your loss

You were a good chicken mommy and took great care of him.

soooo sorry for your loss I know how heart wrenching it is to loose a roo you love!! I just lost my boy last month. God bless. As far as I am concerned all creatures are special in gods eyes. Made in his image and likeness so you do what you can do for them too.

So sorry to hear that ! I have a rooster in isolation at the moment, not sure if he will make it tonight. I feel your grief ...so hard coz you DO get attached even if you try not to ! At least you did what you could & made him comfortable !

Cottonball didn't make it......
I'm so sorry! I also have a rooster who is trying to brake his own foot in islocation. It's not silly - I had a chick who was freezing, not under it's mothers after it hatched. It was pretty much dead, a lifeless body. I put it under the hens and the little chick is alive, well and healthy! I'm sorry, I'm sure he'sin a better place without all those injuries.
