My poor dog *New pics page 9*

deerman may I suggest, one hunter to obviously another hunter...lighten up. No one is automatically blaming a hunter or trapper. But the OP has the right to assume whatever he or she chooses seeing the and knowing the situation. Any individual out setting traps or messing around on someone else's property is problem no matter what they were doing.

It is unlikely the dog got out of a fenced and invisible fenced property got into trouble and came back...

That dog looks to be a mature dog not an inexperienced pup that is puppy stupid. Despite your obvious belief otherwise...there are cruel and stupid people in this world. I know of a horse that someone walked up to a hit in the face with an axe...then drove away. Poor girl was found dazed with an axe sticking out of her forehead the next day. So, setting a trap on someone else's property is not a longshot away from that stupidity.

The OP has every right to speculate, worry, wonder and try to figure this out...the OP needs our support not defensive feedback.

Poor Hope! I agree that she did not leave the property simply because she is older and there are TWO fences. Plus how would she get back in with a terrible wound like that? As far as not finding her for two days... dogs hide when they are scared and injured. She may have been in shock. I believe someone was up to no good! Have you looked for a spot on your land that was disturbed, like from her struggling?
No matter what happened, I am so sorry! It is such an awful feeling when our animals get hurt.

I pray she makes a speedy recovery. I agree also that the OP needs our support....Nothing more, nothing less!!

I'm so sorry that your post has turned into a debate.

I don't know why people are getting defensive - if someone HAD set a trap it would have been an illegal trapper so unless there are illegal trappers on BYC I don't understand some posters' attitudes.

I did not interpret your post as saying hunters or trappers are 'bad'... just the ones that are doing it on YOUR land w/o your permission. Regardless of whether it was a trap/snare or not I hope your dog is able to adjust to her new life with ease.

Hey guys, let's put this thread back on track. It's about the dog, not a debate on whether or not it was a trap, snare, or something else.

deerman, 5 acres of what kind of land? You assume it's easy land to search and yet there could be thickets, etc. that make it hard and if she wouldn't make a noise to help them find her it would be darn near impossible.

marebear07, I'm so sorry for Hope and certainly hope that this thread gets back on track.

Heart wrenching and now you'll always be wondering. But on a good note, my cat had bone cancer at age 7. The vet took his rear leg all the way up to his hip and he lived to be 17. Up and down stairs every day. Although it was tough in the beginning, over time, you never knew he had lost a leg.

Hope will do great!!

Good job to you for taking her to the vet and getting her taken care of.

Your all crazy if you actually believe wire, thorns, etc did this it's all the way through her freakin leg my dogs have been caught in all the stuff but nothing has ever hurt them that bad most likely a snare
